American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
Types of certifications we facilitate:
These are Blended courses offered by the American Red Cross at BYU.
- Basic Adult CPR/AED and First Aid
- Basic Adult and Infant CPR/AED and First Aid
Participants will be required to complete both the online and in-person portions to receive the certification.
Cost:
- Adult CPR/AED and First Aid is $31.50 in 2026
- Adult and Infant CPR/AED and First Aid is $31.50 in 2026
The cost for the certification must be paid prior to the in-person portion. This is an American Red Cross fee and cannot be waived. Students must pay through Cashnet. If the student is a BYU employee and their department is paying, the employee needs to let the instructor know when they come to the in-person portion.
Sign-Up Instructions
- Sign up for an available time for the in-person portion.
- If you are paying the certification fee for yourself, pay it at Cashnet. Please save the receipt of payment.
- American Red Cross will email you a link for the online portion of the certification to the email you provided at sign-up. You must take and pass the online test prior to attending the in-person portion.
- Bring a physical or digital copy of the certificate of completion from the online portion to the in-person portion.
In-person Portion
The in-person portion will be held in the Risk Management Building room 105 at 795 North 500 East on the BYU campus. Please plan on the class taking approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
Large Groups
If you need to have a large group or department certified, please contact Risk Management at 801-422-4468 for a private class.

Toggle ItemMy Department is paying for my certification. What do I need to bring?If your department is paying for your certification, you don't need to pay through Cashnet. During the In-person class indicate to the instructor (and in the signing sheet) which department is paying. They will need to provide the account codes with the correct Workday tags and their approval.

Toggle ItemWho sends me the link for the online portion?Two weeks prior to the in-person portion you will receive an email to the email address you provided from either "no-reply@train.redcross.org" or "safety_specialist@byu.edu" with the link to the online portion. If you can't find either of them, check your spam or junk folder. If you still can't find them, please call Risk Management at 801-422-4468 and we will help you resolve the issue.

Toggle ItemI completed the online portion. What's next?After completing the online portion, you will receive an email with the proof of completion from "rclcsfteam@redcross.com". You will need to show that email to your instructor in the in-person class.

Toggle ItemHow long will the certification take?The online portion will take around 2 hours. The in-person portion will last around 1 and a half to 2 hours.

Toggle ItemHow long does the certification last?The American Red Cross certification is valid for a period of two years. There is no renewal process; therefore, re-certification is required at the end of the two-year term.
